Overview

The Engineering group supports all of Stric-Lan’s well testing activities with special emphasis on the processing and interpretation of pressure transient data. Whether it is providing quality control of a production well test field report, converting surface pressure to bottomhole pressure or interpreting the pressure data from a permanent instrument in a deep water well, Stric-Lan delivers outstanding results. We use state of the art commercial and custom proprietary software to provide the very best interpretation of the data in the minimum amount of time.

Well Test Design and Data Processing

Stric-Lan provides well test designs in order to match test objectives with operational procedures in such a way as to maximize the chances of getting the information required while minimizing the risk and the cost. Data processing is provided to ensure that all of the measured well test data (such as flow rates, produced volumes, pressures and temperatures) is complete, correct, and consistent and distributed to the interested parties in a timely manner.

Pressure Transient Analysis

Pressure transient analysis as provided by Stric-Lan Companies is a multi-step process that includes data preparation, initial diagnostic plots, calculation using semi-log and type-curve techniques and results verification using simulation. The calculations include reservoir parameters from semi-log plot straight lines (superposition, Horner and MDH) and the multi-rate type-curve match. The simulation is based on the type-curve calculations and can use either an analytical or numerical model depending on the complexity of the well/reservoir system.

Systems Analysis

The actual production rate that a particular well will provide is controlled by a combination of the reservoir’s ability to give up fluid and the completion’s ability to transport that fluid. Stric-Lan provides an evaluation of how these systems interact by using a combination of commercial and proprietary software. The analysis can provide flowrate estimates for use in test design, completion pressure drop estimates for use in optimizing completion parameters (like shot density, tubing size or propped fracture half-length) and future flowrate prediction for use in reservoir monitoring. The analysis is also used to verify pressure transient interpretation results and to calculate the minimum rates required to unload liquids.

Deliverability Analysis

Multi-rate tests are conducted to determine the relationship between flowrate and pressure (surface or bottomhole). Stric-Lan not only provides the equipment to measure the rates and the pressures, but also provides an interpretation of data.

Other Services

The Engineering group can provide a wide variety of other services that include (but are not limited to) completion of state regulatory forms, Pressure Transient Training Seminars and Production System Analysis Training Seminars.
